Tuesday, October 20th, Paris

Greetings!

We took the Paris Historic Walk today. We purchased a book of ten metro tickets, and a Paris Museum Pass, for each of us. The start was two trains away, at Notre Dame. Great gargoyles, and a statue of one of my ancestors (Charlemagne) out in front. Probably took too many stained glass photos for some of you, but most of the places on this tour had some. Especially Saint Chappelle. It's essentially the Fort Knox of stained glass. It telss the entire Christian story in almost 10,000 panes of glass. Concludes with a rose panel (large oval) on the front wall featuring the Apocalypse. Saint Louis built it to house Crist's Crown of Thorns and his cross, which he bought from the the descendants of Constantine. The Crown is currently in Notre Dame. No idea where the cross is.

Toward the end of the day, we saw the entrance to the Louvre, and the Eiffel Tower in the distance. We're budgeting two days in the first, and may climb the second.
